#12CharityDaysOfChristmas

Ho ho ho! The season of giving is here….so ADDS will be supporting 12 charities in December.

We won’t be sending a partridge in a pear tree, but we hope that the donations we make each day will make a difference.

On the first day of Christmas, ADDS sent to the Friends of Charing Cross Hospital (FOCXH)….

…a donation to their Christmas Fair!

ADDS' donation: 100 bags of Christmas sweets put together by hand by the ADDS team.

crisis-logoOur donation means that Crisis can give five more homeless people a special Christmas:

  • They will receive welcoming support from people who really care
  • They will have the chance to shower, freshen up and get clean clothes
  • Three nutritious hot meals (including Christmas dinner) will be provided for them
  • Each person will receive a health check and treatment from a doctor, optician and dentist

To find out more about Crisis, or to reserve a place for a homeless person this Christmas, please visit their website here.

On the third day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Smart Works

 …donations of good-quality, job-suitable clothes and accessories.

smart-works-logo

Smart Works is a charity based in locations throughout the UK; it helps unemployed women get back into the work place. Smart Works helps women gain confidence and independence through successful job application; they provide mentoring and coaching to develop their interview skills, as well as professional clothing.

ADDS are helping by arranging a clothes drive!

Are you having a wardrobe clear-out in 2017? Don’t let your unwanted clothes and accessories go to waste! We’re calling out to all of our clients and asking them to kindly donate any of the below items:

  • Female business suits
  • Female skirts and trousers
  • Dresses
  • Female tops and blouses
  • Handbags
  • Female shoes
  • Female coats
  • Accessories

Our drivers will take them off your hands throughout January and February, and donate them to Smart Works for you. Why not start 2017 by helping to empower women to succeed and take a step towards a brighter future? Just contact orders@archivestorage.net to arrange a collection; make sure you include a Smart Works Donation Slip with your donated items.   To find out more about Smart Works, visit their website here.

On the fourth day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Bags of Kindness

…three bags of useful and lovely things for vulnerable women living on the streets.

Bags of Kindness will deliver our donated bags to women’s centres. Our donations will then be given to women living on the streets, who rarely have access to basic things like warm clothes and sanitary products.

ADDS would like to make a difference this winter by creating three bags of useful items to give those in need.  If you would kindly like to donate a bag and get involved, please visit Bags of Kindness’ Facebook page or kindly make a donation to their Just Giving page by 15th December. Even a small bag of goodies would be much appreciated!

On the fifth day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Save the Children

…text donations from every member of our team!

save-the-children-logoWe’re showing the world our silly side and signing up to Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day! Everyone in the ADDS team will wear a Christmas Jumper to work on Friday 16th December and donate £2 each to Save the Children.

We’re calling out to all of our clients to help raise money for this fantastic charity; to donate £2, just text TEAMADDS to 70050. £2 may not seem like much, but it could actually give a homeless child in Bangladesh a bed for one night. To get your own fundraising pack, check out Save the Children’s website here.

Remember to share your Christmas jumper photos on social media and include #christmasjumperday and #12charitydaysofchristmas so that the Save the Children team and the ADDS team can see them!

Have a woolly wonderful day on Friday 16th December!

On the sixth day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Alzheimer’s Research UK

…the services of our team member, Andrea!

alzheimers-reasearch-uk-logoAndrea has joined Alzheimer’s Research UK as a volunteer because she has a real passion for the cause. So, ADDS will be supporting her financially in every way that she contributes to the charity, whether it’s sponsoring her for an event or paying for her travel.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the leading research charity aiming to defeat dementia. Their pioneering work focuses on prevention, treatment and cure. They are energising a movement across society to support, fund and take part in dementia research. It’s a pleasure for ADDS to help Andrea to support this cause.

If you would like to find out more about Alzheimer’s Research UK and get involved, visit their website here.

On the seventh day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Age UK

…15 weeks of friendship calls for one lonely older person.

Almost a million (982,200) of people aged over 60 feel lonelier at Christmas time, according to new figures from Age UK. ADDS agrees that ‘no one should have no one at Christmas’, so it is our pleasure to donate 15 weeks of friendship calls for one lonely older person.

If you would also like to pledge your support to help tackle the loneliness that is blighting the lives of far too many older people, please click here to visit Age UK’s website.

On the eighth day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Dress for Success

…help with their stock storage!

Dress for Success receives donations of women’s business clothing and accessories, so their storage spaces could get pretty full. So that they can continue to collect donations from many generous people, we’re helping them with their stock storage.

Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and life.

If you would like to find out more and check out the 7 different ways you could get involved, visit their website here.

On the ninth day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Bloodwise

…a £50 donation to go towards beating blood cancer!

Our £50 donation will help to fund world-class research about blood cancer. Bloodwise are currently funding over 1,000 researchers and clinicians across over 220 active research projects, as well as countless more awards to train the research leaders of the future.

Thanks to this fantastic research, today two-thirds of everyone diagnosed with blood cancer will still be with us in five years’ time; when Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research) started in 1960, survival was measured in weeks and months.

We think this is certainly a worthy cause and we hope that our wonderful clients will also get involved. To learn more about the charity, or to make a donation, visit their website here.

On the tenth day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Swindon Epilepsy Support Group

…a £50 donation to support their self-help group for people affected by epilepsy.

The group was set up because there was very little support given to newly diagnosed sufferers of epilepsy and their families in Swindon. In Partnership with the Rotary Club of Swindon Phoenix, they run a local help and awareness group specifically aimed at those who are directly affected by epilepsy, and it is run by people who know what it’s like to live with the daily challenges that this illness brings.

The aim of the self-help group is to bring together those who are newly diagnosed and those who have lived with epilepsy for many years, so that they can share experiences and tips on how to cope with the particular issues suffering from epilepsy presents.

If you would like to get involved, attend one of the sessions, or learn more about the Swindon Epilepsy Support Group, visit their website here.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Prospect Hospice

…a £50 donation towards end-of-life care services to patients and their families.

Prospect Hospice works within the Swindon community in partnership with patients, their families and organisations to provide and influence excellent care, support and understanding at the end of life. In 2015-16, they cared for and supported almost 6,400 people, as patients, carers and family members, through a range of services developed to bring care, comfort and confidence at life’s most difficult time.

If you would like to make a donation, or find out more about Prospect Hospice, please visit their website here.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, ADDS sent to Water Aid

…£50 to set up a handpump in Nepal.

Water Aid works with local partners to deliver clean water and toilets and promote good hygiene. 633 million people don’t have access to safe water. Without this basic service, they have no choice but to drink dirty water that could kill them. We were surprised to hear that diarrhoea caused by dirty water and bad sanitation is the second biggest child killer worldwide. A lack of clean water and toilets keeps children out of school, stops adults from working and traps people in poverty.

If you would like to make a donation to Water Aid, or learn more about the charity, please visit their website here.
